Adviser group Kepa has announced the launch of a new adviser hub in central Christchurch, which opened on 9 April.

Kepa National Sales Manager, Mike Sweeney, said the hub gives their Christchurch advisers a professional place to work and meet with clients.

“Advisers were telling us they were tired of meeting customers in crowded coffee shops and found it hard staying focused while working from home,” said Sweeney.

“With office space being often out of reach for small adviser practices, we saw an opportunity to foster co-operation amongst local members.”

…we saw an opportunity to foster co-operation amongst local members.

Nine advisers are currently using the space, with two more joining later this month and the capacity for six more.

“We have taken quite a selective approach to advisers wanting to come in to ensure we get the right people who will engage in referral relationships with others in the space.”

Four of the advisers are new to the industry but Sweeney said the other advisers have all recently made the move into their own business.

Sweeney said the challenges that brought about the installation of the new adviser hub are prevalent all across the country and added that Kepa has given thought to which other areas may be in need of a similar hub initiative.

“This is an important step in creating a template for other parts of the country and to support an area of high growth for Kepa,” he said.

He said the hub will also double as a base for Kepa’s Christchurch activities and “offer local advisers referral opportunities with an office full of specialists across insurance, lending and investments”.

Kepa South Island Key Account Manager, Cameron White, will also be based out of the office.

The new hub is located on 10 Walker Street, Christchurch Central.
