Southern Cross Health Insurance has launched an interactive tool to help its members check if their surgical procedure is covered by their policy.
Its procedure checker tool allows members to search for specific treatments and see what is covered under their policy.
In addition, the tool provides information on terms and conditions, including excess requirements, and whether pre-existing conditions may affect cover.
Members can also check if their procedure needs to be performed by an affiliated provider partner, or if prior approval needs to be requested.
Southern Cross Health Insurance’s Chief Operating Officer Anthony McPhail says there’s a clear trend in people wanting more self-service options.
The tool is currently available to those who are registered with My Southern Cross and on Ultracare or the Wellbeing 1 and 2 plans. McPhail says the organisation will extend this service in time.
