Partners Life is to stop accepting handwritten credit card details as it increases measures to make clients’ premium payments more secure.

“Handwritten credit card details poses potential risks for clients and advisers, as does storing copies of those handwritten details,” states the firm.

From 27 September 2022, new clients wanting to pay the company with a credit card will be sent a secure link to the insurer’s payment gateway – where they can enter their credit card details – and have them encrypted without any manual handling.

Current clients can contact the firm to enter their credit card information via secure IVR over the phone, or ask for a secure link be emailed to them.

The company has made the following changes for advisers:

  • A new application form (version 22) is now available to download from MPL and new printed stock can be ordered for delivery in October
  • The firm’s credit card authority form has been removed from MPL and its public website
  • Advisers should discard all old application forms and order the new version
