By far the most popular story this week was our report on the final stage of Chubb’s acquisition of Cigna NZ as it announced its rebranding exercise was completed…

Cigna NZ has changed its name to Chubb Life Insurance New Zealand Limited (Chubb Life NZ) and is now trading under the Chubb brand.

hubb Life NZ Chief Executive Gail Costa says the firm’s customers, independent financial advisers and business partners have responded positively to the new brand.

“They’ll all benefit from Chubb Life’s international expertise, innovation and technology, and we’re excited to be able to continue to offer our market-leading products to customers,” she says.

“After confirming the sale of the business with customers last year, we’re getting in touch this month to tell them about the name change and how much we’re looking forward to looking out for them with our comprehensive range of insurance products.”

Gail Costa, Chubb Life Insurance NZ’s CEO.

“Everyone in the business has worked hard to complete the rebrand to Chubb in less than nine months. It’s a huge milestone.”
Bryce Johns Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and President of Chubb Life believes New Zealand is an important growth market for the firm.

“We’re really excited about building on the break-out success that the business has had in enabling New Zealanders to access market leading life cover, and quality financial advice – especially in such turbulent times.”

On July 1 2022, Chubb, the world’s largest publicly traded property and casualty insurer, acquired the life and non-life insurance companies of Cigna in six Asia-Pacific markets, including New Zealand.

The addition of Cigna’s personal accident, health and life insurance business advances Chubb’s strategy to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
