AMP Names Blair Vernon as CFO

AMP has changed its executive team as part of the firm’s plans for retail banking and wealth management services in New Zealand and Australia.

After joining AMP earlier this year, Peter Fredricson, CFO and a member of the executive committee, is to retire. The roles of CFO and Group Executive Transformation will be consolidated into a new role. 

Blair Vernon has been appointed to the new role effective 3 July 2023 with a transition to occur throughout June.

Vernon has more than 25 years’ experience across the financial services sector in New Zealand and Australia.

He joined AMP in 2009 and became CEO AMP Wealth Management, New Zealand in 2019.

In May 2022, he was appointed to lead all of AMP’s transformation activities, and was previously Managing Director AMP Wealth Management, New Zealand from January 2017, and prior to this held various roles across operations, sales and distribution.

Prior to joining AMP, Vernon held a number of general management roles at Bank of New Zealand.

The role of CEO – Australian Wealth Management (AWM) will be removed with a transition to a new operating model to occur by the end of this year.
