The Board of Financial Advice NZ has appointed Tony Dench as Interim CEO. The move follows the resignation of Katrina Shanks who is to join ANZIIF in Melbourne.
Dench will take up the position from 13 November 2023 while the board undertakes a search for a permanent CEO.
Dench is well-known in the financial sector, having worked in financial services and banking in New Zealand for almost 20 years.
He has experience as a CEO having led the Share and Newpark group of financial advisers for five years until the end of 2022.
Heather Roy, Chair of the board says Dench has industry networks and extensive experience that will allow the organisation to maintain its direction and momentum.
“This will keep it in good stead to continue to grow and support New Zealanders’ financial understanding, wealth, and wellbeing, and provides continuity of its member services prior to the appointment of a new CEO,” says Roy
Dench is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, and is currently an independent director of several privately owned companies.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead Financial Advice New Zealand for a short time as the association transitions to new leadership,” says Dench.
