Suncorp NZ has appointed Westpac’s Chief Marketing Officer, Suraiya Phillimore-Smith, as its new Chief Customer Officer. She will take up the role on 4 March 2024.
Phillimore-Smith will have responsibility for Suncorp’s partnerships, including its broker and adviser network. She will also lead brand, marketing, communications, government relations, and a growing sustainability function.
The firm’s CEO Jimmy Higgins says he was looking to appoint someone who has experience in an intermediated business model, and confidence in the emerging sustainability regulatory requirements.
“That, combined with Suraiya’s global brand and marketing experience made her an unbeatable candidate,” says Higgins.
Paul Gallop has been acting in the role and will continue to do so until Phillimore-Smith joins the team. Then will return to his role of Executive Manager, Strategic Broker Partnerships.
