Under today's economic conditions, the average New Zealander is unable to afford life insurance.
- Agree (60%)
- Disagree (35%)
- Unsure (5%)
Almost two-thirds of those who have cast vote in our latest poll agree that life insurance is too expensive for the average Kiwi.
Our poll followed the comments of economist Shamubeel Eaqub who said changing demographics and financial pressures are contributing factors to just 29% of New Zealand households having life insurance.
Speaking at the recent FSC conference, Euqub noted that critical affordability pressures are at play and that the average Kiwi cannot afford the insurance industry’s products.
With one week to go, the results so far show that 57% of those who have voted in our poll agree with the sentiments of Eaqub, 36% disagree, and 7% are unsure.
