AIA’s appointment of two executives, including a new Chief Distribution Officer, drew strong reader interest this week…
AIA NZ has announced two executive appointments, with Angela Busby becoming Chief Distribution Officer, and Maddie Sherlock stepping up as Chief Customer Officer.
The insurer says that as Chief Distribution Officer, Busby (Te Rarawa, Ngati Tūwharetoa) is responsible for business development including IFA and Group Distribution, Aligned Advice and AIA NZ’s ASB Partnership, as well as Distribution Performance and Supervision.
She has more than 30 years’ financial markets experience leading teams and developing strategies.
Previously, she was AIA NZ’s Chief Customer Officer and Chief Strategy Officer. She has also held senior roles as Chief People & Culture Officer at Sovereign, Managing Principal of ASB Securities (where she played an active role in developing and establishing Whakaterehia, ASB’s Māori Leadership programme), and General Manager of Aegis.
Busby was previously chair of NZ investment company TAHITO and is a prior member of the Sustainable Business Council NZ Advisory Board.
AIA says that Sherlock, as Chief Customer Officer, oversees all the functions of customer operations including the management of customers, underwriting, claims, rehabilitation, and customer experience.
Sherlock has more than 13 years’ experience in the life insurance industry across digital, claims and operations. She joined AIA in 2015 and over the last five years has held several senior leadership positions across the operations teams, including most recently as AIA NZ’s Head of Customer Strategic Delivery, and previously as Head of Customer Operations and Head of New Business.
AIA NZ CEO, Nick Stanhope, congratulated both Busby and Sherlock on their new appointments.
“I know they will continue to make a difference alongside their teams to help New Zealand become one of the healthiest and best protected nations in the world.”
