The FSC will launch its annual Financial Resilience Index (FRI) research at a free webinar in late April, delving into new research tracking the attitudes and financial situations of New Zealanders.
The council says its FRI is a “…unique comprehensive tracking survey capturing New Zealanders’ perspectives on five critical financial resilience indicators – financial confidence; financial literacy; financial preparedness; job security and wellbeing.”

These indicators are tracked year-on-year, with 2025 marking the fifth year of tracking.
The council says its one hour free webinar, at midday on 29 April, 2025, will see industry experts discuss:
- How the findings translate to how everyday Kiwis, such as your customers and clients, are navigating pressing issues such as the cost-of-living crisis
- The progression of financial wellbeing of New Zealanders year-on-year
- The top financial issues for New Zealanders today
- Real-life examples of what is happening in the community
The speakers at the webinar are:
- Dr Patrick Nolan (Facilitator) – Director – Policy & Research, Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission
- David Bishop Research Lead, Financial Services Council
- Elle Wuthrich Financial Adviser, Naked Finance
- Meagan Tuckerman Chief Marketing Officer, Momentum Life
