If advisers have clients who seem unwilling to make a will, Welsh adviser Craig Palfrey has outlined the reasons he uses to convince his clients they do need a will – along with highlighting seven facetious reasons why clients don’t need one.

Palfrey, from Penguin Wealth was speaking at the 2025 MDRT Annual Meeting in Miami and detailed the section on wills in his wider address looking at how advisers can maximise client engagement and business growth (see: Strategies to Maximise Client Engagement).
In suggesting advisers hold educational client briefings at least twice a year, Palfrey mooted a briefing session on the top seven mistakes people make in their wills, noting half the audience won’t have a will as yet.
This slide, taken from Palfrey’s presentation at MDRT, highlights the seven reasons he says clients should have a will.
And Palfrey’s slide below outlines seven very humorous reasons why, he says, clients should not have a will, including the clincher: “I have reliable information that I am never ever going to die.”
