Financial Advice New Zealand has partnered with international award-winning financial educator, Vanessa Stoykov from Evolution Media Group (Australia) to deliver a four-part online short course in October and November on the art of storytelling, specifically designed for financial advisers.

The association says that by learning how to capture the attention of their audience with effective openings, using flashpoints and turning points to enhance the story, advisers’ client value proposition “…will resonate, and the outcome will be the difference between an engaged client and an indifferent one.”
Financial Advice NZ says storytelling is a vital communication skill. “It can be one of the most powerful ways to show potential clients who you are, and what you stand for. The sharing of experiences in your authentic way builds connection and empathy, essential elements of establishing trust in relationships.”
It notes that Stoykov is an expert in the art of storytelling.
“While running Evolution Media Group (Australia), she has a weekly column and video on the Daily Mail, and has communicated adviser stories through her TV show, The Secrets of the Money Masters.”
She is author of The Breakfast Club for 40-Somethings book and podcast. Her most recent book, The Five Conversations About Money That Will Radically Change Your Life, was published globally.
She also spoke at the Financial Advice NZ National Adviser Conference 2025 in March.
The organisation says the four-part short course will guide advisers in:
- Why storytelling works, and your personal why
- How to use hooks, flashpoints, and backstories
- Bringing risks, transformation, and client stories to life
- Storytelling in action – how to build your own authentic signature story
The one hour courses will be held on 7 October, 14 October, 4 November and 18 November 2025 and advisers can gain 4 CPD hours.
