Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has announced that Cameron Brewer is the new Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, replacing the outgoing minister Scott Simpson.

In announcing a refreshed ministerial lineup the PM also named Brewer as the Minister of Small Business and Manufacturing, and Associate Minister of Immigration. He joins as a Minister outside Cabinet. Brewer is the Member for Auckland’s Upper Harbour electorate.
The new minister has been welcomed by the Financial Services Council with CEO Kirk Hope noting in a message to members that the council “…looks forward to engaging constructively on matters that impact our sector and the consumers we serve.”
Hope also acknowledged and thanked outgoing minister Simpson for his support of the financial services sector.
“During his tenure, Minister Simpson progressed valuable work and maintained an open and pragmatic approach to engagement with industry,” Hope says.
