17 Speakers Lined up for Financial Advice NZ Conference

Financial Advice NZ’s two-day conference starting Tuesday will feature 17 top New Zealand and international speakers covering a wide range of subjects, says the organisation’s CEO Katrina Shanks.

The Be Inspired, Be Energised conference – of which RiskinfoNZ is a sponsor – will be held on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 November.

Shanks says the new online format will be “dynamic, interactive and user friendly”.

“We would have loved to have held it in a face-to-face setting because that’s how financial advisers work, and especially after we were forced to cancel last year’s national gathering, but it was not to be,” she says.

“However, this is the next best thing and we believe we will deliver an event that is pretty special.

“We have a truly inspiring and energising line-up of speakers who will give delegates key insights and practical tools to end their year on a high note and set them up for a big 2022.”

The new online format will allow delegates and sponsors to view the programme, attend any sessions they choose – live or later on demand – download content, and network with other delegates and sponsors via the platform’s ‘breakout rooms’ and live chat forums.

Keynote speakers:

  • Mykel Dixon, Australia’s Breakthrough Speaker of the Year, who shows Fortune 500 and ASX 200 listed companies how to stay relevant in the 21st century
  • Dr Angus Hervey, of Future Crunch, a political economist specialising in the impact of disruptive technologies on society
  • Tane Hunter, of Future Crunch, a cancer researcher and science communicator
  • Sharon Zollner, Chief Economist at ANZ Bank
  • Matt Church, founder of Thought Leaders, who connects and challenges audiences and himself to be the best version of themselves
  • Siouxsie Wiles, Auckland University microbiologist, one of the public faces of the pandemic

Business session speakers:

  • Michael Kitces, the Chief Financial Planning Nerd at Kitces.com, which is dedicated to advancing knowledge in financial planning and helping to make financial advisors better and more successful
  • John Spence, one of the top business thought leaders and leadership development experts in the world, named as one of America’s Top 50 Leaders to Watch
  • Professor Paul Spoonley, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Massey University, and the author or editor of 28 books, including ‘The “New” New Zealand – Facing Demographic Disruption’ (2021)
  • Michael Henderson, a Corporate Anthropologist, helps organisations enhance their workplace culture to improve business results, customer experience and employee satisfaction

Shanks says during conference Financial Advice NZ will launch two new research projects, present the Financial Advice NZ Awards, and have Noel Maye from Financial Planning Standards Board join in a fireside chat as well as the FMA to answer any licensing questions delegates might have.
