Two new directors were appointed to the board of Financial Advice NZ at its AGM on Monday 15 November.

Rupert Gough (pictured left) will be the new Practitioner Director Lending, while Lana Stockman (pictured right) is an independent director. They replace Chair Sue Brown and Practitioner Director Lending John Bolton, who are stepping down after more than four years.

Independent board member Heather Roy will be acting Chair until the first Financial Advice NZ board meeting in December when a new Chair will be appointed.

Gough has been in the finance industry for 13 years, during which time he founded and ran Mortgage Lab, which now has 27 advisers nationwide. He was also head of home loans for mortgage and insurance aggregator Kepa, has been a mortgage adviser for Velocity Financial and worked in the investment team for NZ Post Superannuation Funds.

Stockman has experience within the energy sector, holds a Masters in Applied Finance and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons). While working in Australia she completed a Diploma in Financial Services and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services.

“The board was impressed with Lana’s depth of insight into the financial services landscape in New Zealand and her perspectives of the key stakeholders,” says Katrina Shanks, CEO Financial Advice NZ. “She is a clear communicator with an inclusive style.”

Shanks says Brown and Bolton: “…were there when Financial Advice NZ was formed, and their skill, experience, patience, and support helped make the process easier as we found our feet and navigated those early days.”

During the AGM members of Financial Advice NZ voted in new constitution.
