Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Kris Faafoi (pictured) is to take part in a webinar Tuesday, 19 May, at 10am, hosted by Katrina Shanks, CEO Financial Advice NZ.

Faafoi is the Minister behind the Financial Services Legislation Amendment Act (FSLAA) and the Financial Markets (Conduct of Institutions) Amendment Bill (CoFI), which is currently before a select committee.

When the Covid-19 restrictions were introduced Faafoi extended the transitional licensing application window from June until early next year, with the new Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services to come into force at the same time. Shanks expects this to be in March 2021.

She says that during Tuesday’s webinar Faafoi will give members an overview of the Government’s response to Covid-19 and how that response is helping advisers and the sector, as well as providing an update on CoFI and transitional licensing.
