A webinar featuring a panel of experts from the world’s largest law firm is to run through a range of legal issues, and relief measures, for adviser businesses operating in a COVID-19 world.

Organised by Katrina Shanks of Financial Advice NZ, the webinar on Wednesday 29 April at 10am, will discuss some of the oddities of ‘essential’ businesses at various government alert levels.

Public law and commercial litigation specialist Hayden Wilson of law firm Dentons Kensington Swan will outline of the key regulatory relief measures available to businesses, including the wage subsidy, how to access it, and issues to be wary of.

In addition, commercial property and construction law specialist Paula Ormandy will go through some of the challenges faced by landlords and tenants in the lockdown environment.

And James McMillan, who heads the law firm’s restructuring and insolvency practice, will discuss the proposed safe harbour provisions for directors, as well as the new business debt hibernation scheme.

Shanks says: “The team will also discuss Dentons Kensington Swan’s newly-launched resource hub, which explores the ideas, innovation and challenges that New Zealand will face in a post COVID world, and how we can thrive in the next normal.”
