Fidelity Life has altered its Terminal Illness Booster Cover, removing the limitation of having to survive 30 days post claim notification. Instead the insured person must survive 30 days from the date of diagnosis. The firm has also changed the definition of ‘terminal illness’ to align with the definition of in its life cover policies.

Southern Cross

Southern Cross Health Insurance funded more than 1,800 knee replacement surgeries and more than 1,900 hip replacement surgeries in the 12-months to June 30 – together costing more than $90 million – around 10 per cent of the organisation’s paid claims. The organisation’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Stephen Child, says Southern Cross Health Insurance funded half a million specialist consultations and 250,000 procedures in the past year – reducing the burden on the public health system.

Appointments

Fidelity Life has appointed Melissa Cantell as its new CEO, Cantell will take up her new role on January 25. She replaces Nadine Tereora who left the firm in May.

Sara Singh has been appointed as a Service Manager at Finzo, an integrated financial solutions provider. She’ll support financial advisers, oversee the firm’s platform, and CRM services.

Trusted Adviser

Katrina Shanks, CEO of Financial Advice NZ, is looking forward starting a marketing campaign for the organisation’s Trusted Adviser mark in February to increase public awareness of the accreditation.

Of the organisations more than 1600 members, 400 are currently eligible to apply for the mark says Katrina Shanks.

MDRT

Million Dollar Round Table, an association for high-flying financial services professionals, has launched the MDRT Academy to help advisers meet the organisation’s requirements for full membership.

The academy, accessed via an MDRT app, provides members with the resources they need to sharpen and develop skills, increase their production, and achieve success, says MDRT President Ian Green.

Academy members also gain access to MDRT members, other industry leaders, and can connect with the online community during monthly webcasts.
