Key Technology Appointments Made at Cigna

Cigna NZ has appointed Gabe Smith and David Marquis to its technology team as the firm continues to invest in its digital-based services.

Smith will join Cigna as Chief Architect having been GM Enterprise Technology at online accounting firm Xero. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the technology industry.

Most recently he’s led teams of architects, developers and engineers to deliver cloud-based services for primary industries organisation OSPRI.

“Gabe will be responsible for driving and managing Cigna’s technology architecture and will play a key role in continuing our efforts to leverage Cloud technology and to streamline our systems,” said Cigna Chief Information Officer, Craig Musker.

Marquis, Cigna’s new Head of Data, has more than 15 years’ experience in the data industry, previously worked at fuel retailer Z Energy as Head of Data Solutions, and before that worked at online auction site TradeMe.

“David will be key to driving the next phase in our data journey, championing data throughout the organisation and architecting the next steps for our cloud data platform to ensure the business is getting exactly the analytics and insights it needs,” says Musker.

Smith started his role on 29 September, Marquis begins on 11 October.
