Naomi Ballantyne to Step Down from Partners Life

Naomi Ballantyne, Managing Director of Partners Life, has announced her plans to retire from the firm.

In a video address, Ballantyne says that after 41 years in the sector it’s time to step down, noting she plans to leave the firm early next year.

Ballantyne will make the transition out of day-to-day leadership and full-time employment nearly two years after the $1 billion acquisition of Partners Group Holdings by global insurance specialist Dai-ichi Life in August last year.

After stepping down she expects to undertake consulting work for the global Dai-ichi Life business, including Partners Life.

She will remain as Managing Director until her planned departure, to ensure the company continues to deliver against its plans while the board completes its process of appointing a replacement.

“Having secured Partners Life as a ‘forever company’ through Dai-ichi Life’s acquisition of our company in 2022, it is a natural time for me to pass the baton to the next generation,” she says.

“One of the things I have always been passionate about is passing all of my learnings and lessons on along the way.

“Partners Life has taken this notion and run with it in the development of the Life Lessons initiative, as we believe there are lots of lessons we can pass on that might spark something for someone.

“I have loved every minute of my career, in an industry that does great things for New Zealanders. I am so proud of the positive changes to the industry that have arisen because of the competition I have brought to the table.”
