With the Federal Government in Australia seeking feedback on the use of genetic testing by insurers, we asked if these might become common-place in New Zealand.
One view is that a genetic test can identify a client’s potential health issues before symptoms appear. Others fear they will face higher premiums or policy exclusions based on their results.
While voting is still open, the result so far shows that 59% of you think genetic tests will play a part in future insurance policy proposals, 28% don’t think they will, and 13% aren’t sure.
Do you see a time when genetic tests will play a part in your clients applying for life insurance?
- Yes (68%)
- No (23%)
- Not sure (9%)
