Kirk Hope will be the next CEO of the Financial Services Council (FSC). He will take up his new role in September, replacing Richard Klipin who returned to Australia last month after nearly eight years with the organisation.
Hope resigned as CEO of business lobby group BusinessNZ this week. His last day at the organisation will be 6 September.
“I have led BusinessNZ for nine years through a period of growth, consolidation and unprecedented change and believe the time is right to pass the baton to a new leader,” said Hope.
“I will take up a new appointment as Chief Executive of the Financial Services Council of New Zealand on 18 September 2024.”
FSC Board Chair Rob Flannagan says Hope is a proven leader with a “…deep understanding of financial services, the business landscape, and the challenges facing many New Zealanders”.
“His expertise and experience in regulatory affairs, policy and advocacy will provide strong stewardship as we continue to deliver value for our members and advance our strategic priorities to grow the financial confidence and wellbeing of New Zealanders,” says Flanagan.
Haydee Stroud is the FSC’s Acting CEO.
