The PAA Legacy Trust and Financial Advice New Zealand have announced that 10 registration fee scholarships are being awarded for the National Adviser Conference from a Trust grant of $5,950.

Financial Advice NZ says these scholarships are being awarded to advisers who meet the new adviser registration criteria, supporting advisers with less than three years of advice experience.

The PAA Legacy Trust was set up in 2018 to manage the proceeds from the wind up of the Professional Advisers Association NZ after a number of adviser professional body members came together under Financial Advice NZ.

Independent Chair of the trust, Darrin Franks says it’s pleased to build on the previous two conferences where one to two scholarships were granted and to be working with Financial Advice NZ to attract a newer generation of adviser to attend the conference.

“Further, with our heritage and association with Financial Advice NZ since its inception and the support provided to date, the trust is also pleased to be recognised as a strategic partner for the upcoming conference.”

Nick Hakes, CEO at Financial Advice NZ, says a driver of this initiative is to induct new advisers into the culture of the organisation “…collaboration, passion, engagement, respect, curiosity.

“There is a generational transition of the industry underway, and it is up to the advice leaders of today to pass these values to the next generation of advisers.”

An update from the two organisations notes the PAA Legacy Trust reported an average 11.8% growth in its investment portfolios for the year to December 31, 2024.

“In September 2024, the trust committed $60,000 over two years towards funding the On Track learning management systems provided to Financial Advice New Zealand members.

“Accessing and recording of their continuing professional development is a vital component for all individual financial advisers in the New Zealand regulatory environment. The trustees are confident both these initiatives align well with objectives of the PAA Legacy Trust.”
