Our report on registrations opening for MDRT’s massive adviser event in June at Miami Beach, Florida drew much reader interest this week…
As registrations open for the Million Dollar Round Table’s Annual Meeting in June, the organisation’s New Zealand Chair Travis Hamilton is encouraging local advisers to consider attending the event.
Each year the MDRT Annual Meeting attracts thousands of financial advisers from around the world and this year it’s being held in Miami Beach, Florida on June 22–25. Registrations open on March 19.

Hamilton, who has personally attended seven Annual Meetings alongside other MDRT events, wants New Zealand MDRT members to consider attending and is hoping for a good contingent from New Zealand this year.
“Last year we had 39 attend the Annual Meeting from New Zealand and 60 members attended either the Annual Meeting, the Global Conference or the Top of the Table meeting.”
He says with registrations only just opening for the 2025 event, it’s hard to predict NZ numbers, but he is expecting the contingent to grow again this year.
“The 2025 MDRT Global Conference in Macau, China on August 24-27 will be another good option for NZ members to attend,” he says.
As to what local attendees might get out of the Annual Meeting, Hamilton says it’s a combination of the content from the sessions and the world class speakers, who include leaders from within the financial services industry and from other sectors, along with the peer learning and networking with members from around the world and with other New Zealand members.
Asked about the most important things that he personally gets from the annual event, Hamilton puts it into two categories.
“One is around the speaker content such as practice management, productivity, client strategies, innovation and personal and professional development.
“The other category is around the relationships built with members from around the world and from New Zealand. For example, I now have monthly peer-to-peer meetings with two members from Canada and the USA who have built very successful practices that I am able to learn from and share ideas with. I only got the opportunity to connect by getting to know them at the Annual Meeting,” he says.
New Zealand is part of MDRT’s Oceania chapter which includes Australia and Fiji, chaired by Nick Longo, who is based in Melbourne. New Zealander Brian Burgess is the regional chair for Europe and Oceania.
