Financial Advice New Zealand’s expanded nationwide Connect Tour 2025, running from September 1 to September 11, is seeing venues nearing capacity.
The organisation says this year’s tour focuses on policy, practice, and people — with a professional development curriculum built around the learning pillars for the modern financial adviser.

It says that at the heart of this year’s Connect Tour is an opportunity for the advice profession to consult directly to the Financial Markets Authority’s Accessibility of Advice Review.
“With input into the terms of reference provided by Financial Advice New Zealand’s CEO Advice Forum, the tour will test ways of making advice more visible, valued, and accessible to every New Zealander,” it says.
Nick Hakes, CEO of Financial Advice NZ, says through evidence-based research from New Zealand and international partners “…and adviser-designed solutions, we’re aiming to address the terms of reference of the FMA’s Accessibility of Advice Review and work towards solutions that remove perceived barriers stopping more New Zealanders accessing quality financial advice which we know they need in today’s economic climate.”
He says that from “…staging better client experiences to understanding generational preferences and engagement styles, we’re leveraging global thinking to grow the demand for advice in Aotearoa.”
Financial Advice NZ says that on the agenda is:
- Interactive FMA consultation: Exploring the four core areas of the Accessibility of Advice Review — including advice business models, digital innovation, consumer preferences, and ease of regulation
- Global insights: Attendees will hear from Brokers Ireland via simulive on the international white paper The Value of Advice
- Local relevance: New Zealand-specific research on the 2025 Retirement Expenditure Guidelines from Massey University’s Fin-Ed Centre, generational preferences from Booster, and an exclusive research initiative from Fidelity Life reimagining engagement and communication strategies for diverse communities
- Peer design workshops: Attendees will collaborate with fellow advisers and share their experience to co-create solutions of how access to advice can work better – for everyone
- Generational advice tools: Learning how to tailor advice experiences across age groups and life stages
…the Connect Tour offers a platform to advocate for models that reflect the realities of delivering personal financial advice…
Financial Advice NZ says the FMA’s review is a pivotal for the financial advice profession.
“With fewer than 9,000 advisers currently operating nationwide and advice still under-utilised, the Connect Tour offers a platform to advocate for models that reflect the realities of delivering personal financial advice.
“Whether you’re navigating cost-of-living pressures with clients or designing advice for intergenerational wealth transfer, this tour is your opportunity to shape the future of advice delivery,” it says.
Hakes adds that if advisers are committed to the future of advice in New Zealand “…then this year’s Connect Tour provides an advice-led environment to stay relevant and rise to changing client expectations.”
The organisation says seats are filling fast in Christchurch and Auckland.
