Global insurtech provider, UnderwriteMe has launched its claims engine for Zurich Australia, marking the first implementation of the technology in Australia.

This latest development extends automation capabilities into Zurich’s claims process, with the firm claiming to be the first Australian life insurer to achieve end-to-end underwriting and claims decision-making on a single platform.

Integrated within the insurer’s Claims Concierge team, the engine is intended to streamline the intake process and increase efficiency and consistency in claims handling.

It works by guiding customers through an intuitive and responsive journey to personalise each experience, asking only relevant questions, and removing unnecessary complexity.

Matt Paterson, Chief Claims Officer at Zurich, said the launch highlights the insurer’s “forward-looking approach” to automation and innovation.

“This engine is designed to speed up information processing, so our claims managers can dedicate their time to providing the empathy and support our claimants need,” he said.

Paul Hughes, Chief Revenue and Customer Officer at UnderwriteMe, said the launch marks a key milestone in expanding the company’s footprint in Australia “…demonstrating the flexibility of its Decision Platform in supporting both underwriting and claims transformation”
