Our poll question this week is seeking to canvas whether advisers are finding that the growth in both KiwiSaver funds and in New Zealanders’ interest in KiwiSaver is increasingly becoming a pathway to talking with clients about life insurance.

Could talking more about KiwiSaver present more opportunities to add value for your clients’ future investment and wealth building, while at the same time generate new conversations about wealth protection?

We recently reported a new partnership between The Adviser Platform and KiwiSaver specialist Hive which aims to make KiwiSaver easier to bring into the wider advice relationship, helping advisers support more of their clients’ financial needs.

Citing recent FMA research, which found that less than a third of New Zealanders are accessing financial advice, TAP and Hive say they are joining forces to help close New Zealand’s advice gap.

The two companies say the new partnership brings TAP and Hive together “…around a shared ambition to help more New Zealanders benefit from great advice and support them towards a confident retirement.” (see: TAP Forms New Partnership with KiwiSaver Specialist).

And just this week the Financial Services Council has been highlighting the increasing political consensus on the need to strengthen KiwiSaver for New Zealanders’ future (See: KiwiSaver Consensus is the Real Election Winner).

We’re interested to learn your own views on whether providing KiwiSaver advice might represent an opportunity to generate more life insurance conversations.

If some of your current relationships revolve around health insurance, mortgage advice, or general insurance, might a KiwiSaver conversation act as a potential new lever to discuss life insurance in greater detail?
