Majority Support Government’s Decision on Income Protection Scheme

Early results of our latest poll show a clear majority of you support the government’s decision to scrap its proposed income protection scheme.

With still one week to go, 88% of those who have so far cast a vote have indicated they want to see the back of the plan that would place additional taxes on both employees and employers.

Other votes show 8% support the scheme, and 4% aren’t sure one way or the other.

Following the announcement by Prime Minister Chris Hipkins two weeks ago that the proposed scheme, that would financially support those who lost their job through no fault of their own, Financial Advice NZ’s CEO Katrina Shanks said her organisation was heartened to see the pause button pushed on the plan.

There’s still time to vote in this poll, which closes on Monday 27 February.
