Storm-Related Relief

To help support customers who have been displaced by the recent Auckland Anniversary weekend floods or Cyclone Gabrielle, Cigna is offering a two-month waiver of premiums.

To qualify, the customer’s primary residence must have received a yellow or red sticker, or they’re currently receiving Government financial support for accommodation because their home is uninhabitable.

There is no maximum premium limit and the offer applies to all Cigna’s Assurance Extra policies for customers who meet the criteria. The firm will be accepting requests up until 31 March 2023.

This offer is in addition to the built-in benefits that Assurance Extra policies feature, which could also provide some relief to customers if they’re struggling.

Cigna recommends advisers ask their clients to let them or the firm know if they’re struggling. In addition, it says advisers who have been affected personally should contact their Business Partnership Manager.

Elsewhere, AIA NZ is offering customers who are severely impacted by the cyclone a one-month insurance premium waiver.

AIA NZ Chief Distribution Officer Sharron Botica says AIA’s impacted customers who live or work in:

  • Northland
  • Auckland
  • Hawkes Bay
  • Tairāwhiti Gisborne
  • Waikato
  • Bay of Plenty
  • Wellington
  • Manawatu-Wanganui

…and have suffered serious damage to either their home or business from Cyclone Gabrielle, can request a one-month premium waiver until 31 March 2023.

Customers will remain covered and can still make claims during the relief period.
