Of your clients who need a Will, what proportion have them in place?
In a somewhat surprising poll result, three in four advisers (74%) say less than half of their clients who need a will, actually have one.
As we go to press, the remaining 26% of participants saw 11% voting for the option that indicated that 80-95% of clients had a will, while just 5% of advisers saying 95%+ of their clients had one.
This was mirrored by another 5% of advisers who opted for the 50-65% range and the 5% who voted for 65-80% of clients having a will.
Our latest poll question stems from a report highlighting a presentation given at the 2025 MDRT Annual Meeting by Welsh adviser Craig Palfrey outlining the seven reasons he uses to convince his clients that they do indeed need a will.
Interestingly, he had noted that half of clients were unlikely to have one (see: Seven Reasons Clients Need a Will).
Palfrey’s comments were part of a wider presentation which encouraged advisers to be involved with their clients’ estate planning journey, partly as a way to engage with their clients’ children. (see: Strategies to Maximise Client Engagement).
Our poll remains open for another week and we’re interested to learn your thoughts…
