Fidelity Life has partnered with Footprint, New Zealand’s largest provider of online wills, to offer free access to an online will service for new life insurance customers.

The insurer says that from March 2, the new offer gives eligible customers access to Footprint’s Will It package at no additional cost. The service enables customers to create a will online in as little as 15 minutes, while providing secure digital and physical storage.

Fidelity Life says the partnership “…responds to a significant protection gap in New Zealand, where recent insights suggest around half of adults do not currently have a will*. By embedding estate planning into the life insurance journey, Fidelity Life is supporting customers with financial protection and broader future planning.”

Bronwyn Kirwan, Fidelity Life Chief Commercial Officer, says the partnership with  Footprint “…sets a new benchmark by giving customers free, guided support to put a will in place at a time when protection is front of mind. It’s a meaningful point of difference and a strong example of how we’re broadening protection beyond the policy itself.”

The company says that through the Footprint platform, customers can:

  • Create their will online
  • Receive reminders every 12 months to review and update their will
  • Store important documents securely in a digital vault
  • Access any service support along the way

Customers can also receive discounts on other estate planning services through Footprint, to support a well-rounded estate plan.

Belinda Heunis

Belinda Heunis, Footprint CEO, says the firm sees firsthand how many families are left vulnerable simply because a will was never put in place.

“This partnership with Fidelity Life helps remove the usual barriers of cost, time and complexity, making it easier for more New Zealanders to take that crucial step. A will is a vital part of protecting those you love, providing clarity and certainty when you’re no longer here.”

Fidelity Life’s says its existing corporate Group customers and Fidelity Life employees will also receive tailored access to the will offer as part of its broader wellbeing and employee benefits programmes. Discounted access to a will offer is also available to friends and whānau through Footprint.

The company says the initiative was first announced at its Engage on Tour event and “…forms part of the company’s commitment to strengthening value-add initiatives that deliver better outcomes for customers.”
