MAS has announced the appointment of senior financial executive and governance expert, Jon Raby, to its Board.
The insurer says Raby brings more than 25 years’ experience in executive leadership across major financial services organisations in New Zealand and Australia.

His career includes a decade as Chief Financial Officer of ASB Bank, where he led finance, treasury, capital management and risk functions in one of New Zealand’s most complex regulated environments.
MAS says he has deep experience in financial governance, regulatory engagement, risk oversight and steering organisations through change.
He has been recognised for his contribution to the financial sector, including being named Deloitte Top 200 New Zealand CFO of the Year in 2018.
MAS Chair Doug Hill says Raby’s appointment adds valuable capability and perspective to the Board, noting he “…brings extensive experience from senior roles across banking and financial services, with a strong track record of operating in complex environments and supporting organisations through periods of transformation.”

“His depth of experience in financial governance, risk management and strategic leadership will help support MAS’ ongoing focus to invest in the member experience, while delivering strong financial returns and adding long-term member value.”
Raby says joining the MAS Board is a privilege and strongly aligned with his values. “MAS stands out for its mutual structure and its long-term commitment to members. That purpose-led approach is something I strongly support.”
He says MAS’s focus on trusted advice, member wellbeing and intergenerational value is a defining strength.
At MAS’s AGM in late August, members formally approved Raby and Jennifer Lang as Commercial Trustees, and Steve Merchant as Practitioner Trustee.
