The NZ financial services industry is in the process of undergoing significant change, which will impact all elements of the sector as well as the broader community.

This year, advisers will be impacted by the implementation of the Adviser Code of Professional Conduct, including the introduction of minimum education standards, while the Financial Services Legislation Amendment Bill is set to enforce individual adviser licensing, which will force each adviser to choose which business structure they will want to operate under in future.

Other issues that may come to prominence include any further fallout that might hit New Zealand as a result of the recommendations about to be made by the Australian Banking and Financial Services Royal Commission, while general economic conditions and the usual challenges associated with maintaining and building a successful advice business are ever-present.
