AFA Hires a Kiwi CEO

The Association of Financial Advisers in Australia has appointed Helen Morgan-Banda as its new CEO.

Described by the AFA as an accomplished member of industry associations, Morgan-Banda joins the AFA from her current post as CEO of the Law Society of New Zealand. Prior to joining the Law Society, she was CEO of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

AFA National President Michael Nowak says that in these two roles Morgan-Banda “…has managed significant disruption akin to that being experienced by financial advisers”.

He added that through the interview process Morgan-Banda has “…demonstrated a deep understanding of the issues being faced by our members and partners”.

Morgan-Banda’s appointment will see AFA Acting CEO and General Manager Policy & Professionalism Phil Anderson continue in his GM role.

Morgan-Banda, who has also held corporate affairs positions with the New Zealand businesses of ANZ and AMP, will relocate to Sydney from Wellington and start with the AFA on 2 August.
