Advisers Confident of Client Note-Keeping

0

Almost 70% of advisers who have so far taken part in our latest poll indicate they are confident their client notes will stand up to regulatory scrutiny.

Our current poll follows the decision by the FSCL ombudsman to back an adviser who relied on her notes to defend herself against a client complaint.

However, the ombudsman says that while the adviser’s written notes were useful in making a decision, the notes may not have been good enough under the current regulations.

Of the others who have so far cast a vote is our poll, 20% are not sure their note taking is up to scrutiny, and 12% are certain they are missing the mark.

Are you confident your client notes will stand up to regulatory scrutiny?

  • Yes (67%)
  • Not sure (21%)
  • No (12%)
