The Financial Services Council, together with the Financial Markets Authority and MBIE, has launched the 2019 Navigating Regulation Advice Summits, which will be held nationwide in March.

This Summit is designed to provide insight, support and information to the financial advice community to help them respond to, and prepare for, the pending regulatory and legislative changes being implemented in New Zealand.

The Advice Summit will:

  • Feature updates from key-decision makers shaping the future of the sector
  • Showcase industry views, including from advisers already on the journey
  • Highlight possible ways to position a financial adviser business for the future
  • Include the Marketplace (new for 2019), where attendees can speak to suppliers, ask questions and understand what help is available to support them in navigating these changes
FSC CEO, Richard Klipin

FSC CEO, Richard Klipin, says the Summits are a must-attend for all who want to learn about and prepare for the future.

MBIE Manager Financial Markets, Sharon Corbett, added that all aspects of an adviser’s work will be impacted by the legislation.

“It introduces new client care duties, a new code of conduct and new disclosure requirements to improve the quality of financial advice available for New Zealanders,” she said.

“Financial advisers can begin to prepare now by finding out more about the changes and thinking about how they will provide financial advice in the new regime.”

The March 2019 Advice Summits will be held in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin.
