Health and life insurer nib has released the top five medical claims for January, and taking out the top three slots is heart surgery with a combined spend of more than $200,000.
The broad term of ‘heart surgery’ isn’t as specific as nib’s first publication of its top five claims in July 2022, when the top claim of $75,770 was for aortic valve surgery on a 69-year-old man.
A bone grafting operation on a 43-year-old man is forth on the list for January, and is valued at $60,393. Sitting at fifth place is spinal surgery valued at $50,017 on a 47-year-old woman.
