By the end of 2026, my advice business will be in a better commercial position than it is now.
Financial advisers appear quite upbeat about the commercial prospects for their advice practices for the 2026 calendar year.
As we go to press, nearly three quarters of advisers (71%) agree with the proposition, in our first poll for the year, that their advice business will be in a better commercial position by the end of 2026 than it is now.
However just over one in five (21%) disagree, which may indicate they either expect their advice business to tread water during the year or to be worse off that it is now. Another 8% were not sure.
We asked the question in light of the new regulatory regime for financial advice having now been in place for nearly two years and the Conduct of Financial Institutions regime in full effect since March 31 last year.
And recent data from the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research’s Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion showed a strong lift in business confidence in the final quarter of 2025, so we are interested to understand if advisers have a similar level of confidence for the coming year.
Our poll remains open for another week and we are keen to learn of your views…
