Released by Professional IQ College in partnership with service platforms TrustUs and TeachUs, the new online learning programme is intended to assist advisers strengthen and expand their estate planning and related conversations with their clients and prospective clients.

Called PIQ Estate Planning, the learning service offers advisers nine interactive modules designed, according to Professional IQ College, to help advisers and advice businesses:

  • Understand the key principles of asset protection and estate planning
  • Become the pivotal point for client awareness
  • Hold more meaningful and confident client conversations
  • Identify risks and provide solutions, either directly (if qualified) or by referring clients to estate planning specialists
  • Exceed clients’ expectations
Professional IQ’s Rod Severn …what doesn’t change is the end goal of delivering good client outcomes

Commenting on the launch of this service, Professional IQ College chief executive, Rod Severn, notes “Quality conversations build trusted relationships, and it always starts with mapping out clients’ unique needs and goals.”

While the trigger of the estate planning conversation may vary, says Severn, he emphasises that what does not change is the end goal of delivering good client outcomes across the board. He says that regardless of the type of financial advice given, these meaningful conversations put advisers in a prime position to pinpoint gaps in financial protection that may need plugging, including estate planning:

“While advisers cannot provide estate planning-specific advice if not qualified, they can still point clients in the direction of an expert in the field, and potentially make all the difference to their financial wellbeing,” he says.

Professional IQ Colleges says feedback highlights that many financial advisers feel they lack the confidence, knowledge and awareness of possible solutions to even introduce the topic, which the service provider cautions is a missed opportunity for both clients and advisers to strengthen their relationship.
