‘Old School’ Closing Methods Still Widely Used

Those taking part in our latest poll appear to be split when it comes to ‘old school’ methods of closing the deal.

So far, 43% agree they are outdated, 5% are not sure, and 52% indicate they are still effective.

Our poll follows the publication of an opinion piece by Tony Vidler who recommends advisers develop greater soft skills, and be prepared to give clients time and space to consider their options.

He says old-school objection handling sales techniques that never really worked that well definitely don’t help in today’s customer buying journey.

Read Vidler’s commentary here.

This poll will close on 17 October, so there’s still time to cast your vote.

‘Old school’ soft skills are far less effective when engaging with the consumer of today.

  • Disagree (52%)
  • Agree (43%)
  • Not sure (5%)
